Our
practice consultants are on call and ready to assist our members
with client service issues. They include consultants for Accounting
& Auditing, SEC Practice, Quality Control, Fraud Prevention
and Detection, Tax, Government and Not-For-Profit Services,
Information Technology and International Business.

Accounting & Auditing - Ray G. Stephens, DBA, CPA
Ray
Stephens is Professor of Accounting at Ohio University and has
served as a consultant to CPA firms and as an expert witness
on accounting and auditing issues. He is currently a member
of the Accountancy Board of Ohio and the 2004 recipient of the
Ohio Society of CPAs’ Gold Medal. He was previously the
KPMG Peat Marwick Professor of Accounting at Kent State University
and a faculty member at Ohio State University. He is also a
frequent instructor on continuing education and author of numerous
books and articles. Our Accounting & Auditing Consultant
is available for consultation with our members on accounting
and auditing issues and practice problems.

SEC Practice - Robert F. Richter, CPA
Bob Richter has over 40 years of SEC practice experience,
including 14 years as the director of SEC practice for a national
accounting firm. He is the author of SEC Accounting and Reporting
Manual, published online and in print by RIA/Warren Gorham &
Lamont. He has been a member of numerous professional committees
including the SEC Regulations Committee and Accounting Standards
Executive Committee of the AICPA, and is a nationally recognized
speaker and seminar leader on SEC topics. Our SEC Practice Consultant
is available for consultation with members on the filing, financial
reporting, and auditor requirements of the SEC and PCAOB and
for education programs on SEC practice.

Quality Control - Loscalzo Associates
Loscalzo Associates is one of the country’s leading consultants
to CPA firms on quality control matters. Their client service
team has extensive experience and has served in leadership positions
with state CPA societies, industry groups and other professional
organizations. The firm’s goals include enhancing the
technical competency of CPAs in the marketplace, improving the
profitability and growth potential of CPA firms and communicating
cost effective and efficient engagement strategies and techniques
for their clients. Our Quality Control Consultants are available
to assist member firms through post-issuance engagement efficiency
reviews; technical assistance on planning engagements; inspection
or monitoring of a firm’s quality control policies, procedures
and documentation and selected engagements; and consultation
to determine a firm’s readiness for peer review.

Fraud Prevention and Detection - John J. Hall, CPA
John Hall has over 25 years experience in public accounting,
internal auditing, consulting and corporate management positions
specializing in fraud prevention and detection. Prior to returning
to his consulting business in 2002, he was North American Practice
Director -- Internal Audit Services for Jefferson Wells International.
Mr. Hall is a nationally known speaker and seminar instructor
and a past chairman of the AICPA National Conference on Fraud.
Our Fraud Prevention and Detection Consultant is available to
help members work with clients in creating a comprehensive anti-fraud
environment, identifying and assessing areas of exposure to
misconduct and fraud, and handling incidents of wrongdoing.

Tax - Miller & Chevalier, Chartered
The Washington, D.C. law firm of Miller & Chevalier, Chartered,
the nation’s first law firm specializing in tax matters
and one of the foremost tax practices in the country, has a
CPA Associates client service team of eight individuals assisting
our members. The firm has an extensive tax practice specializing
in a number of areas, including tax accounting, corporate taxation,
parnerships and S corporations, disclosure and compliance, tax
penalties and tax shelters, employee benefits and executive
compensation, financial institutions and products, tax exempt
organizations and international taxation. Our Tax Consultants
are available for consultation with members on tax practice
issues and problems and resolving members’ tax practice
matters with the IRS.

Government & Not-For-Profit - William A. Broadus, Jr., CPA
&
Joseph D. Comtois, CPA
Bill Broadus and Joe Comtois were each employed by the General
Accounting Office for over 25 years, have developed and taught
a number of government accounting and auditing courses for the
profession and currently practice as consultants in the governmental
and nonprofit area. Mr. Broadus is a past member of the AICPA
Auditing Standards Board, former chairman of the Institute's
National Governmental Training Program, and assisted in the
drafting and processing of the Single Audit Act of 1984. Mr.
Comtois is a former Executive Director of the National Intergovernmental
Audit Forum and his extensive experience in training and consulting
includes the training of professional auditors in performance
auditing for the U.S. General Accounting Office and for federal,
state and local governments. Our Government and Not-For-Profit
Consultants are available for consultation to help members service
federal, state, local and not-for-profit government engagements.

Information Technology - Member Consulting Team
The Association’s Information Technology Member Consulting
Team is composed of three individuals from our member firms
with a high level of technical expertise, and helps our members
improve in-house technology and expand client services. They
are Ken Miller of J.D. Cloud & Co. L.L.P., Cincinnati, Ohio;
Rick Sommer of Master, Sidlow & Associates, P.A., Wilmington,
Delaware; and Herb Toby of Philip Vogel & Co., P.C., Dallas,
Texas. Our Information Technology Member Consulting Team can
assist our members with client services, operating systems used
internally, software used, software and hardware supported by
firms, reseller affiliations, and industry expertise.

International Business - Fredric L. (Rick) Barbour II, Ph.D.
Rick Barbour has over 20 years experience in international business
consulting where he has worked and done research in over 30
countries. With a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois specializing
in marketing research, he is a former Vice-President of Burke
Marketing Research where he was a consultant on international
projects, and a former Director of the Executive Development
Center at the University of Illinois where he crafted executive
programs for Asian executives and helped start the first MBA
program in Poland. He now heads his own firm, the Barbour Group,
and is available to help our members assist clients in identifying
international market opportunities for their products and services.
